Having released Desert Songs officially in November with a fun sold out show at the Red Bird, Jeff Meleras and the Bokonons move from that new already iconic location to the reborn iconic Black Sheep Inn for the vinyl release. The Bokonons are an Ottawa based Americana style band formed in the summer of 2021. The band is comprised of songwriter/guitarist Jeff Meleras, producer, engineer, and multi instrumentalist Dave Draves, the legendary punk, folk and rock veteran multi instrumentalist Chris Page, he himself one of the finest songwriters around, the Toronto import and guitar wiz Mike Zikovitz, and Piet Masone, whose magical harmonies and vocal gymnastics are like no other. They will be joined on bass by Jarrett Bartlett, producer and engineer and bassist for Rhume, one of Ottawa's most legendary bands. So very happy to tell you that to round out the lineup, Jake Bryce, multi instrumentalist extraordinaire will be manning the skins.
Desert Songs is their 4th album and newest release, a follow up to "Derp Grier Down" which popped in November of 2024. The Bokonons sing about human folly, regret, alien visitation, societal division, loss and longing, and the pending apocalypse with just a small smattering of tentative hope sprinkled in for good measure.
The Bokonons are very pleased as well to announce that their good buddy and excellent singer songwriter and local Wakefield treasure Shannon Ross will be getting things going with an opening set.
