Founded by Syrian singer Leen Hamo and Lebanese jazz musician John Abou Chacra, their paths crossed at a Toronto fundraiser following the 2020 Beirut explosion—a moment that sparked a powerful musical connection. Born from resilience, cultural connection and shared passion for Arabic music, this project, with its vibrant energy, nostalgia and innovative approach, takes audiences on a journey through the rich musical traditions of the Middle East and North Africa, reimagined with a modern twist, blended with global influences such as Soul, funk and dream pop.
Since its inception, Kazdoura has rapidly gained popularity through online exposure. Their videos got millions of views. Their vibrant fusion received attention from many radio stations in Canada. In 2023, they received grants to record their full-length album, which they released on March 15th, 2025. They have toured in Canada and internationally in 2024 and 2025, showcasing at APAP, Canada @Womex, Mundial Montreal, and Folk Canada.
