An explosive new force in the emo/punk world, JULES IS DEAD gives voice to the kind of feelings and frustrations rarely expressed in lyric form. “The main thing I want to do with my music is to make people feel heard, because for so long I felt like I wasn’t heard,” says the 19-year-old singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist hailing from the town of Barrie, Ontario. Deeply informed by their perspective as a nonbinary artist of colour, the music of JULES IS DEAD ultimately pushes the genre forward while providing a much-needed outlet for the endless turmoil faced by their generation.
Signed to LA-based Indie label TAG Music, JULES IS DEAD has spent the past year working on their debut project through an Atlantic Records/TAG joint venture. Their upcoming EP features an impossibly catchy batch of songs confronting everything from the paralysis of depression to abuses of power and subordination of women. Much of the work demonstrates Jules’ knack for striking that potent balance between personal revelation and impassioned commentary, cathartically delivered through a rollercoaster of tender piano moments that burst into breakneck anthems driven by Jules’ blistering guitar work and in-your-face biting vocals.
A new release or two expected in summer of 2025, will continue an impressive run of music from JULES IS DEAD. All mixed by 3x GRAMMY® Award-winner Tom Lord-Alge (U2, The Rolling Stones) prior releases include: “Just 1 Thing feat. Ezra”, the haunting “Eternally (undeath)“ and “Spells and Power Thoughts,” both produced by Kyle Black (Paramore, Pierce The Veil), and joined by official music videos streaming now at YouTube.
JULES IS DEAD previously made waves with such striking tracks as “My Own Hell“ – accompanied by an official music video – and their Atlantic/TAG label debut single, “Red Is My Favorite Color,” the latter of which was named as one of Rolling Stone’s “Songs You Need to Know”.
