Fall Indie Folk Nite at LIVE! on Elgin Featuring Birdie Whyte (with CA & Sonny), Loch Nisse Monster, & Austin Camp
The seasonal Indie Folk Nite Series is back for another spin this autumn. Join us for a warm night in to be swept away by lyrical and instrumental folk performances (yes, with lots of fiddle) from Ottawa’s cherished Birdie Whyte with CA & Sonny, Loch Nisse Monster, and Austin Camp. All ages.
Birdie Whyte with CA & Sonny: Ottawa singer-songwriter Birdie Whyte is at home on the stage anywhere she goes. Songwriting is Birdie’s passion and her lovely voice lends an aching depth to the simple folk-country lyrics she lays down. Birdie’s songs are insightful and mindfully crafted, drawing the listener in and leaving them with melodic, vividly colourful landscapes that hold true to the storytelling form of the folk tradition. Birdie will be joined by her long time talented pals C.A and Sonny.
Loch Nisse Monster: Loch Nisse Monster originated from the swamps of a 70's-themed house party, where the singer-songwriter was told that her name sounded like that of the famous Scottish monster. Indeed, her music brings the mystery and storytelling of this old tale to the stage, unveiling truths in unconventional ways with sincerity and wit. Performing mostly folk-rock music solo and with an ensemble or band, the 21-year-old is rising to local recognition, playing venues across Ontario and Quebec. She has been featured on Alan Neal’s CBC program and is a favourite on CKCU radio. Nisse has also performed in festivals such as the Ottawa Bagelshop Musicfest, Songs from the Shed, Wellington West Sundays, and Spectrasonic’s Under the Stars, and shared the stage with acts such as Camp Saint Helene, The Lionyls, and Sarah Segal-Lazar. Loch Nisse Monster’s song Fog in the Window was the recipient of an honourable mention from the Carleton Poetry & Songwriting Competition in 2023. She released the single in 2024, then releasing a number of ballads and energetic singles leading up to Forensis, the culmination of her creative work in the last two years.
Austin Camp: Austin Camp is an Ottawa based singer-songwriter whose music blends the raw honesty of indie rock with the intimacy of folk. With a voice that shifts between hushed tenderness and strong emotion, Austin writes songs that lean into vulnerability, opening a space for the heavier parts of life. Drawing inspiration from artists like Pinegrove, City & Colour, and Medium Build, his sound balances melancholy with warmth, inviting listeners into stories of reflection, loss, love & connection.
