Jacques Surette is a 25-year-old singer–songwriter from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, whose authenticity and singular way of speaking are both charming and disconcerting. Accompanied by an acoustic or electric guitar, a harmonica, and sometimes a banjo, his lyrics transport listeners to his home territory. Since his debut, he has generated considerable interest with his simple yet touching songs.
He first made a name for himself in the Maritimes, then in Louisiana and Quebec. His simple but effective show includes French and some English songs, illustrating the linguistic duality of his daily life.
In October 2025, Jacques will release his fourth album, produced with an all-Nova Scotian team led by producer Charles Robicheau. Come see him at the NAC!
